Is there a leak under your sink? I’m not surprised. The brass pipes used to plumb most kitchen and bathroom drains are quite thin, and they slowly corrode. This homeowner tried to repair the leak with epoxy, and put his thumb thru the drain pipe instead. Time to call Eric.

The master bedroom of this brownstone had a large entry into the laundry room. Prior to the brownstone being turned back into a 1 family, this floor had been a separate apartment. The laundry room was a kitchen and the bedroom was a living room. The owners wanted us to build a wall between the Master Bedroom and the Laundry room.
We installed a doorway from the hallway into the laundry room and renovated the laundry room.

On a visit to the suburbs, I installed a motion sensor light for a friend who wanted to throw some light on a dark corner of her house.

I keep getting jobs where the owners have fired their General Contractor and they call and ask if I can finish the job. so I say yes. If you live in Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, or anywhere nearby have had Contractor problems, give me a ring.

Here is a peek at one contractor job we are doing in Crown Heights. We are finishing up some badly damaged bathrooms in these renovated rental apartments. The one pictured here was full of graffiti.

We’ve been doing more work in Prospect-Lefferts Garden, a neat neighborhood near Park Slope. Might have to change the byline to Prospect Lefferts Garden Handyman . Some beautiful homes there. This closet renovation was done in a Limestone, which is very similar to a Brownstone. The closet was in poor shape, the plaster cracked and [...]
We’ve been doing more work in Prospect-Lefferts Garden, a neat neighborhood near Park Slope. Might have to change the byline to Prospect Lefferts Garden Handyman . Some beautiful homes there. This closet renovation was done in a Limestone, which is very similar to a Brownstone. The closet was in poor shape, the plaster cracked and the walls painted purple.
The plaster was repaired with fiberglass mesh, several layers of a plaster – joint compound mix, a coat of stain killling primer-sealer was applied, and 2 topcoats. The shelving was custom cut melamine.

A client’s house down by the Gowanus Canal was being flooded every time there was a major storm, when a large rain came, the toilets overflowed. Not Fun. This was happening because the storm drains in NYC connect to the sewer mains, and down by the canal you get all the water that is draining down from Park Slope. That large amount of water has to go somewhere, and it backs up into the plumbing in the houses along the canal.
Installing a backflow preventer in the main sewer pipe in the basement prevents the water in the city main from backing up into the house line.

From the same job that we installed the Elfa Shelving, here are some picts of the condo painting we did in Long Island City. I do a lot of prep work before painting, and it pays off when the client buys you lunch! I lay down rosin paper and canvas tarps everywhere we work. The client asked us to put down more rosin paper for when her movers brought in their furniture. It worked great.
We use rosin paper and canvas painting tarps to protect the floors.
